“When we bought our house three years ago, the steeply sloping, heavily wooded yard had beautiful mature oaks, elms and dogwood trees – and about 300 other trees, poison ivy, dying sod, bare patches, and pretty much any other nuisance plant or weed one could imagine.
Well, no more. Our work with Etowah initially involved a series of consultations and design plans which were definitely a collaborative process. My husband and I desired the look of a designed and heavily planted landscape, but one that would hold up to the realities of dogs, children and drought water restrictions. I can honestly say we have a result that meets these challenges. Additionally, I found the owners of the company and their employees a pleasure with whom to work, and persons with whom I felt comfortable at my home on a daily basis.
The scope of the work encompassed almost every aspect of modern residential landscaping: both laying of sod and hydroseeding turf; hardscaping with natural and man-made materials; irrigation systems using sprinkler heads, soaker hose, and drip systems; planting or ornamental shrubbery and trees; application of fertilizers and pest control, and laying of various mulch choices.
Not only did Etowah do the construction of the hardscaping (flagstone patio, retaining walls, and stone staircases) as well as the planting of trees and ornamental shrubbery, the real value to me was the knowledge the imparted and applied with respect to selecting the right plants to meet our needs. Their knowledge of the finer points of ornamental horticulture allowed them to advise us to make some very smart choices. All plants are great in the right spot. The trick is finding the plants that look and grow great in your spot.
They were sensitive to budgetary our constraints, and so helped us make informed and educated choices amongst various materials, advising when a less expensive alternative would or would not do. Accordingly, we have future plans to further enhance our landscaping in a few years with the addition of a stream and water feature and look forward to working with Etowah once again.”
